A good book feeds our soul

Well, not everybody is so fond of reading books, but sometimes a good book is the "food" of our soul.  Reading a good book, we "train" our mind, we enrich our vocabulary, our imagination. We can imagine the characters, the place of action, the  landscapes, the beauty of this world. Only a good writer can make us imagine these, lead us to this world, let us get in and BE near the characters or be one of them.
Too bad people don't read so many books anymore. Libraries are more rarely visited and books remain on the shelves.
We find ourselves in some books; many times, books reflect actions of our lives or even our personality; others are comic, cops, fantasy, psychological books or simply reflect a true thing,  a true event.
     Some pieces of advise:
For those who have heart broken, I recommend "Jaques Ortis", Al. Dumas. You will cry a little bit, but it will pass. :)
War books: Sven Hassel's series. Very good books.
Love books: Sandra Brown's and Jane Austen's books.
Fun&action: "The Jungle Book"  I and II, Rudyard Kipling.
Friendship:"Eragon, Eldest & Brisingr", Ch. Paolini.
All-in-one: Alexandre Dumas' books. Amazing books.
About&with vampires: Anne Rice's books and Stephanie Meyer's books( "the Tiwlight saga").

    Quotes about books:

A good book should leave you... slightly exhausted at the end.  You live several lives while reading it.

A good book has no ending.

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.

I find television to be very educating.  Every time somebody turns on the set, I go in the other room and read a book.  :))

Let books be your dining table,
And you shall be full of delights
Let them be your mattress
And you shall sleep restful nights.

I know every book of mine by its smell, and I have but to put my nose between the pages to be reminded of all sorts of things.

A book is like a garden carried in the pocket.

Books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own.

You know you've read a good book when you turn the last page and feel a little as if you have lost a friend.

A book must be an ice-axe to break the seas frozen inside our soul.

Lord! when you sell a man a book you don't sell just twelve ounces of paper and ink and glue - you sell him a whole new life.  Love and friendship and humour and ships at sea by night - there's all heaven and earth in a book, a real book.

Books serve to show a man that those original thoughts of his aren't very new after all.

Fiction reveals truths that reality obscures.

In reading, a lonely quiet concert is given to our minds; all our mental faculties will be present in this symphonic exaltation.

Books are the bees which carry the quickening pollen from one to another mind.

Good friends, good books and a sleepy conscience:  this is the ideal life.

The last quote is for my friends. :)
